Maya Ruins
From 1531, the Spaiards made incursiions into Belize to conquer and enslave the Maya.During the 17th century they began to harvest the wood themselves, founding settlements in Belize and introducing slaves.During the 19th century, Mayan refugees from the Caste War in the neighboring Yucatan, Indians, Lebaness, Chinese and Mennonites settled in Belize.
